COVID Update, by Mrs Muddy

Date: 3rd Nov 2020 @ 12:58pm

Dear Parents / Carers

I hope you and your families had a safe and enjoyable half term. Given the move to a national lockdown on Thursday 5th November, can I please ask you to follow the points below. I apologise if this comes across as rather directive and I appreciate social distancing is difficult for young children to understand but we all have our part to play in keeping everyone safe during these difficult times.

·         When you are dropping off and collecting your child / children, please stick to your allocated time and once you have dropped off / collected, please leave the area around school as quickly as possible. Please do not remain near the school gates, donkey path or park to talk to friends or other parents.

·         Can I please encourage only one parent / carer to come to the school gates to drop off and collect.

·         Can I please ask all parents / carers to wear a face mask when you are near the school gates to drop off / collect your child.

·         Please do not allow your children to play on the park before and after school. We need to do everything we can to avoid children in different bubbles mixing.

Many thanks for your understanding and support.

Best wishes

Remembrance Day, by Mrs Muddy

Date: 3rd Nov 2020 @ 1:02pm

Dear parents / Carers

Apologies for another message from school but I feel it is important we encourage our children to mark Remembrance Day as best we can this year. The British Legion have dropped off collection tins and poppies for us here at school. Normally, children would move around the school, going from class to class to collect donations. However, given that we have to keep children in separate class bubbles we will be doing it differently this year. Each class will have a day when they will have the collection tin and poppies and they will need to bring in a contribution on that day before the tin moves on to the next class. We will have a separate tin in the Annex for Reception and Year 1, which will remain there all week. If you would like your child to contribute to this year’s poppy appeal, can you please make sure they have some money with them on the following days.

·         Mrs Walker’s class – Wednesday 4th November

·         Mrs Dyde’s class – Thursday 5th November

·         Miss Crowther Green’s class – Friday 6th November

·         Mrs Windell’s class – Monday 9th November

·         Mr Gold’s class – Tuesday 10th November

·         Miss Keatman’s class – Wednesday 11th November

Many thanks for your understanding and support.

Best wishes

Secondary school applications, by Mrs Muddy

Date: 21st Sep 2020 @ 11:25am

Dear Year 6 Parent / Carer

Please see attached a letter from Cheshire East about secondary school applications for September 2021. The deadline for applications is 31/10/20 and you apply to the Local Authority in which you live. So if you live in Staffordshire and would like your child to attend a Cheshire East school, you apply to Staffordshire LA. If you have further questions about secondary admissions, please contact your LA, as individual secondary schools play no part in the admissions process.

If you have specific questions about admissions to Alsager School, please contact me via [email protected] Alsager is holding a virtual Open Morning on Saturday 26th September at 9am. This Tuesday, I will be speaking to all year 6 pupils about Alsager School and they will bring home some information about the Open Morning to you.

Kind regards

Our Return to School, by Mrs Muddy

Date: 4th Sep 2020 @ 3:28pm

Dear Parents / Carers

As the first week back draws to a close, I would like to thank you all for your support and understanding over these first few days. The return to school has presented some challenges for all schools, given the restrictions and guidance we have to follow, however we have all risen to that challenge superbly. The children have been brilliant, showing real patience and understanding when it comes to ‘bubbles’ and ‘zones’. As parents and carers you have stuck to your drop off and pick up times for each class and that has helped enormously to help reduce congestion around the path and gates. Can I ask you, if you want to stay and talk once you have dropped off or collected your child, can you please move away from the path and school gates to allow for social distancing. This is my first week working with the staff here at Alsager Highfields, they really are a very talented and hardworking team of professionals. I would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome you have given me, especially the children who are delightful.

Can I please remind you to check your child’s class teacher’s page on the website. All key information for the week and term ahead will be on there, including on which days PE will take place. Remember, your son / daughter can wear PE kit on those days. Each class page will also have a section entitled ‘Remote Learning’ this will have all the work your child can complete at home if they are unable to come to school (for example, if they are shielding or quarantining etc). Remote learning for absent children will not be e mailed home to you, rather it is for you to access it directly from your child’s class page.

Thank you once again for such a successful and enjoyable first week back and I look forward to see you all again on Monday.

Best wishes

As stated in the July newsletter and in our Return to School Guide we would ask that the children attend school in their PE kit for the full school day.  This will maximise curriculum time without the need for getting changed in already small classrooms. School Website: Continuing the learning journey at home.

As of Monday 7th of September, the class teachers will upload the termly curriculum overview onto the school website. In addition, the class teachers will be updating their class page of the school website with details of the learning that is planned on a weekly basis. The purpose is for parents/carers to have up to date information about the knowledge, skills and experiences their children are receiving at school so that you can support learning at home. We hope this weekly overview will also stimulate discussion as to what your child is learning at school.

In addition, each class page will also have a section entitled ‘ Remote Learning ‘, this will have all the work your child can complete at home if they are unable to come to school ( for example, if they are self isolating , shielding or quarantining etc ). Remote learning for absent children will not be e mailed home to you by their teacher, rather it is for you to access it directly from their class page.

Communication between school and home

Should parents/carers have any concerns regarding your child’s welfare or educational progress you should, in the first instance, direct your questions to the class teacher. Due to the Covid restrictions we recommend that parents/carers e-mail the school office at the following address,  [email protected] where your e-mail will be acknowledged and directed to the appropriate teacher. Following this, you may wish to speak to the departmental leaders of Mrs Henshall for key stage 1 [email protected]  or Mrs Dyde for key stage 2 [email protected]  Mr Middebrook is the acting Headteacher of the school and is responsible for the day to day leadership and management of the school. Best wishes
