The children impressed Santa so much with their wonderful manners and kindness, there were even a few gifts for Mrs Claus! Every child received a selection box and a photo too, photos will be emailed out this week so please ensure school have your correct email address.
Also today we had a festive visit from a Panto team, they were amazing! The whole school was filled with laughter and squeals of delight!

Houses of Parliament Virtual Tour, by Mrs Muddy

Date: 1st Dec 2021 @ 10:11am

Children from our School Council and Junior Safeguarding team across years 3 to year 6 got to visit the Houses of Parliament today for a virtual tour! We had our own personal tour guides who shared lots of behind the scenes information with us on this special tour. The children asked brilliant questions and they have a link of the tour so they can share it with their own classes. Another great experience developing the Children’s understanding of the British values of democracy and rule of law. Mrs Henshall was very proud of how the children represented themselves and our school with their excellent listening and wonderful manners. Well done!

Junior Safeguarding Team, by Mrs Muddy

Date: 28th Nov 2021 @ 8:35pm

We have been really lucky to meet different people as part of our role in school over the last few weeks. Mrs Howard, our safeguarding governor visited us this week to discuss her role as governor and also to explore our roles as Junior Safeguarding Ambassadors. She was very impressed with what we had achieved so far and our ideas for the rest of the year.

A few weeks ago we also met Ruth Gee from the SCIES Team. She talked about her role and we asked lots of questions. She talked about the importance of our roles and responsibilities and we shared why we wanted to be Junior Safeguarding Ambassadors.

Last week we linked up with Parliament UK with our School Council to learn about the role of Parliament and how laws are passed and MPs are voted in like we were. It was great to understand about the laws that keep our country safe and how they have to have Royal approval.

As part of Anti-bullying week we all designed a hexagon with one kind word, this was the theme this year, and it means we have 230 kind words which will be proudly displayed in our hall for us to reflect on over this term and beyond. We also discuss ed respect this week in assembly and how this contributed to making our school safer and a joyful place to learn.

Everyone who attended received a family activity book to take home and the feedback was really positive. We will be running another in the Spring.

Anti-Bullying, by Mrs Muddy

Date: 16th Nov 2021 @ 8:08pm

Dear Parents/Carers
Today we have explored what is bullying and how we can work together to prevent it in school. We have used the Anti-Bullying Alliance resources which I have been sharing over the last few days. I have attached the class PowerPoint and the activity we will be doing in class, maybe you could complete this together at home too.
We have also watched Andy and the Odd Socks song which is really catchy!
Please let me know if you have any thoughts or feedback about this or any of the online safety and pastoral information that I share (please get in touch via my school email address senco@alsagerhighfields.cheshire.sch.uk). I welcome any feedback so that we can work together for the best outcomes for all our children.
Thank you
Mrs Henshall

Anti Bullying, by Mrs Muddy

Date: 13th Oct 2021 @ 11:42am

Dear parents/carers
I have attached the link for an assembly video we are watching this week in Key Stage 2 (years 3 - 6) which was created and shared by the Diana Award to highlight the importance of standing together to support each other and to work together to stop bullying. It talks about Anti Bullying Ambassadors which is something we will be developing and working on during Anti Bullying week, which is November 15th, as it links with our school council and our junior safeguarding team.

It talks about your '5 people support network' which follows on from our helping hands discussions we have had previously in assemblies where we drew our hand and wrote someone on each finger that we felt we could talk to if we needed some help.
We have included the link so that you can watch it again with your children if you would like to. The key message is that our anti bullying work is more than just one week in November, we work together every day to stop any bullying in our school.
Thanks

Mrs Henshall
