The teachers at Alsager Highfields were amazed to spot this huge snowman looking in through the windows, he obviously wanted to find out what the children were learning in their lessons! The children worked together to build and look after him. One of the children noticed he was taller than Mrs Henshall, which some people might say is not very tall.

SEND, by Mrs Muddy

Date: 8th Jan 2023 @ 10:26pm

Happy new year everyone!
Our SEND coffee afternoons continue into our Spring term. As requested the dates were sent out for the whole year back in June but we thought it would be useful to send them out again as a reminder.
These sessions are an informal opportunity to chat and have a cuppa in a relaxed environment. To link up with parents and chat to our senco. Some of our parents/carers who have attended our previous sessions have emailed to say how useful it was to meet in a relaxed atmosphere with the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences. Previously we have had guests from the Early Help Team, Mrs Walker, Senco from Alsager High school and our SEND governor,  Vanessa Howard, our safeguarding governor and the Emotionally Healthy Schools team which has been really useful for parents to chat with. We have also invited CEIAS and Visyon so hope they will be able to attend soon.
The dates for the Spring and Summer term are;
Spring 1 Tuesday 17th January 2pm
Spring 2 Monday 13th March 2pm
Summer 1 Tuesday 16th May 2pm
Summer 2 Wednesday 5th July 2pm
Please email [email protected] to book your space on our next session. We really look forward to seeing you at our next one. Thank you

Visit from Status Quo drummer, Jeff Rich, by Mrs Muddy

Date: 13th Dec 2022 @ 10:11am

Earlier this week, former Status Quo drummer, Jeff Rich, met with Alsager Highfield students to discuss his extraordinary success as a drummer and to teach them some drumming techniques.. His success is even more remarkable as Jeff has never had a drum lesson, learning to play at home on a biscuit tin with his mum's knitting needles. Jeff had many jobs as a youngster so that he could eventually buy his own drum kit. Jeff told the children he practised every night after school from 4pm-6pm. This made us all feel rather sorry for his neighbours, especially as he grew up in a block of flats in Hackney! During the afternoon, students were privileged to participate in a practical workshop with Jeff, who shared with them an insight into his vast experience. It was an unforgettable experience for all involved and Jeff's main message resonated with our own mission statement of 'Nurture, Believe and Achieve.'

In year 4 the children discussed the different personalities that they have, looked at organs inside the body and compared how we look after our physical body to how we look after our wellbeing. They all had well balanced debates about different topics by making sure they listened to and respected one another's opinions and discussed the ways in which we are all different by going on a trip to space.
