Celebration Assembly, by Mrs Muddy
Date: 12th May 2023 @ 10:05pm
It was lovely to celebrate our superstars this week in our celebration assembly. We also had to applaud our children in Year 6, they have been truly amazing this week undertaking their SATS. They persevered and each and every year 6 had the most amazing attitude towards trying their very best! We are so proud - well done! Also a huge thank you to all of our wonderful staff at school who have supported the SATS this week - there has been a whole team supporting our children this week with extra break duties, shuffling timetables and cooking toast, crumpets, pancakes, muffins and sausage and bacon baps each morning for extra brain energy.

King's Coronation, by Mrs Muddy
Date: 6th May 2023 @ 1:18pm
Today the children have had an amazing day celebrating the upcoming King's coronation. The children and adults all dressed in red, white and blue. The children enjoyed a range of traditional lawn games such as welly wanging, hoopla, coconut shy and hook a duck for all to enjoy. Our PFA paid for a huge inflatable assault course and our cook provided picnic boxes for our special lunch. The school looked beautiful decorated with Union Jack bunting throughout. In our Celebration Assembly, Mrs Woollam played her cornet and we all sang our National Anthem as well as another Coronation celebration song, the children all sang beautifully and loved that Mrs Woollam played for them. The children in each class created art projects of portraits of King Charles and wrote letters and cards to send to King Charles. One of the children in year 3 asked if he would visit our school so we have our fingers crossed he can make the time to visit! It was a wonderful day for everyone to celebrate our King's Coronation tomorrow.

This week our parents were invited to an Online Safety workshop delivered by Cheshire Police. The workshop was excellent, the information shared was clear and informative and many of the parents who attended said they felt every parent should be able to attend one of these to enable them to keep their child safe online. Andrew, from Cheshire Police, has agreed to deliver another workshop after school so that other parents can attend. We will email the date of this once it has been organised. Many thanks to the parents that attended.

In reception this week we have been reading the story of 'The Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle. The children have completed some fantastic writing, been busy threading and making caterpillar artwork using dotty markers and pastels. They are keeping a close eye on our pet caterpillars as they grow and change each as they learn about the butterfly life cycle ?
Junior Safeguarding Conference, by Mrs Muddy
Date: 29th Apr 2023 @ 1:42pm
This week saw the annual Junior Safeguarding Conference. Organised by Mrs Loveland from Weston Village Primary School and hosted at Alsager School, the conference brought lots of schools across the area together, including the 3 primaries in the Cornovii Trust, to collaborate around aspects of child safety. The theme was ‘Connections’ and as well as working together, the children took part in workshops led by visitors including the NSPCC and the police. All schools were represented by their Junior Safeguarding teams who presented their work from this year and their school's approach to safeguarding, to the conference. It was a great success, showed real collaboration across schools and our trust and each team brought back lots of ideas to implement back at their own school.

Coronation Celebration, by Mrs Muddy
Date: 27th Apr 2023 @ 10:24pm
On Friday 5th May our children will participate in a fun filled day celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III.
We will be celebrating this exciting, historical event through a variety of activities throughout the day
We ask for all children to come to school dressed in red, white and blue.
We will have a range of activities on the field which all children will have the opportunity to enjoy. This will include an inflatable assault course, coconut shy, welly wanging and other traditional games.
At lunchtime the entire school will eat a picnic together on the field (weather permitting). The school kitchen will be decorating the kitchen/hall with bunting and table cloths, they’ll be offering a special picnic lunch for those who would like a school dinner on this day (see ParentPay letter for details).
All children will create a portrait of King Charles III using a variety of different artist styles. All portraits will be displayed and enjoyed as we reflect on the coronation. We will create a photo collage of the portraits and will post them to King Charles with letters and cards from the children offering our congratulations.
We will begin our Celebration assembly by singing our National Anthem ‘God save the King’ and Mrs Woollam will play her cornet
We plan to bury a time capsule filled with drawings, pictures and items to be opened at the next coronation
We are really looking forward to sharing a fun filled, celebratory day with the children to mark this historical event.
Thank you to our PFA who are funding our inflatable assault course for the day.
