Welcome to Little Acorns Pre School

Hello Everyone and welcome to Little Acorns Pre School website page.
We are Mrs Ward and Miss Andrews and we are very excited to welcome you to Little Acorns. We hope that you have all had a lovely Summer holiday and are ready for the adventure of Preschool. We have lots of fabulous ideas for the coming year and know that your child will have a year full of laughter, friendship and wonderful memories.
We will usually use Seesaw to communicate any important information as it arises, days or events to look out for and to let you know what we have been doing each day. Please feel free to contact any of us via Seesaw and we will respond in our working day. If you need to get an urgent message to us then please phone the office and Miss Eden will contact us straight away.
Our school day begins at 9am and ends at 3pm. Our snack time is 10:15am when the children are offered fresh fruit, milk and water. We will also provide drinks at lunchtime but please send your child with a water bottle so that they can access water throughout the day if they wish.
We wear slippers in the classroom so please feel free to bring some in to leave in school. As the weather changes daily, please make sure your child has appropriate clothing as we do go out in all weathers.
Whilst uniform is not compulsory, we do have a Little Acorns polo shirts and jumper. It is also imortant that they wear sensible shoes or trainers.

Our topic for this half term is 'This is me!' and we will be reading lots of stories and doing lots of activities based on this theme across the ciriculum.
Our literacy programme is write dance - this is a pre-writing programme that supports young children's physical development. Each week there is a different story, dance and material to mark make with which we will video and pop on Seesaw.
In maths we will be looking at Number and Composition where we will be developing early number sense through counting, matching and comparing. We will also sing lots of counting and number songs and bring mathematical vocabulary into the setting wherever possible.
We deliver concept cat, which introduces the children to new vocabulary and it is taught in a structured and engaging manner using songs, stories and play based activites. The word of the week will sent out on Seesaw if you want to discuss it at home.
We will be introducing the children to Phase 1 Phonics Letters and Sounds. Please encourage your child to listen to the sounds around them and name the sounds that they can hear.
A strong partnership between home and preschool is incredibly important in helping your child thrive. We really value your support and the role you play in your child’s learning journey. Please speak to us at any drop off or pick up or contact us on Seesaw if you have any concerns at all as we are always happy to help. We are looking forward to a really happy and successful year with your child.
