Miss Worrall

Welcome to Miss Worrall's Class

Year 6

Autumn Term 2022

Welcome to Year 6.

This year is a very busy and important year, as we will be working extremely hard preparing for our Year 6 SATs in May. Although we will be working very hard for our SATs, we will also be having great fun along the way and we have lots of exciting work planned.

At the heart of everything we do, will be to make your last year at Highfields a memorable one!

So what have we got in store for you for the Autumn Term?

We have lots of great work planned and you can see what the Autumn Term has in store in our Annual Curriculum Planner.

Our Story Topic will be based on the book Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson- it is one of my personal favourites! It links really well to our Geography topic on South America, where we will discover what life is like in the Amazon. The book will also inspire lots of creative work- we intend to transform our classroom into an Amazon rainforest with art work inspired by Henri Rousseau. One of the highlights of this term will be creating our own Rainforest Smoothies and writing adverts for them. I can't wait for the taste testing!

Reading Record Diary

Year 6 children are encouraged to read independently at least four times per week.  Please sign their diary each time they read.  I am encouraing the children to add some comments into their reading diary so that we can talk about what is happening or how they are feeing about the book.  It is important that children develop stamina for reading and so I would recommend that most children should be reading for around 20 minutes at a time.

Could we please remind you that PE kit is: a top in their house team colour; bottle green shorts or skort; and trainers. If the weather is cold, please wear green jogging bottoms (with school logo) .For this half term, PE will be on a Thursday and on Friday -we would like you to come dressed in your PE kit on PE days please.
